TADDM Virtual Environment Creation

by bluemedora_editor on May 25, 2011

The following steps allow one to create a TADDM environment suitable for testing, demonstration, and proof of technology, but are not recommended for production environment creation.

The System Used:

Hostname: tadg15
 IP: 10.66.3.106
 Windows Group: DB2ADMNS
 DB2 Instance Name: DB2
 DB2 Domain: (none?) / default
 DB2 Usernames: db2admin / archuser
 DB2 Passwords: password / password
 DB2 Port: 50000
 TADDM Database Name: cmdb
 TADDM Default Webserver: http://tadg15:9430
 TADDM Install Directory: C:\ibm\cmdb
 TADDM Username: administrator
 TADDM Password: collation
 TADDM Version: 7.2

Steps:

*NOTE: The following steps allow one to create a TADDM environment suitable for testing, demonstration, and proof of technology, but are not recommended for production environment creation.

  • Create Windows Server 2003 VM with minimum of 2 CPUs, 4G RAM, and 80G HDD
  • Login as ‘Administrator’
  • Create ‘DB2ADMNS’ group with Windows Computer Management utility
  • Create ‘db2admin’ and ‘archuser’ users with Windows Computer Management utility
  • Set their passwords to ‘password’
  • Add ‘db2admin’ and ‘archuser’ users to ‘DB2ADMNS’ and ‘Administrators’ groups
  • Transfer DB2 install media to host
  • Install DB2 specifying the above users / etc.
  • Transfer TADDM install media to host
  • Install TADDM by running the ‘setupWin32.bat’ script in the top level of the install media
  • Select ‘simple’ installation
  • DB2 instance name should be ‘DB2’ (a warning message regarding the instance name could indicate DB2 was improperly installed or is not running)
  • Ignore any warning message regarding ‘archuser’ group membership
  • Verify install is correctly configured by running ‘C:\ibm\cmdb\support\install\tools\checkinstall.bat’ script

Output should be similar to the following:

Run-as user:taddmuser DB User:db2admin Archive DB User:archuser DB type:db2 DB url:jdbc:db2://localhost:50000/cmdb CHECKED AND PASSED: /opt/IBM/cmdb1234/dist/external/jdk [ok] /opt/IBM/cmdb1234/dist/lib [ok] /opt/IBM/cmdb1234/dist/deploy-tomcat [ok] /opt/IBM/cmdb1234/dist/etc/collation.properties [ok] db2admin jdbc:db2://localhost:50000/cmdb [ok] archuser jdbc:db2://localhost:50000/cmdb [ok] taddmuser [ok]
 EXCEPTIONS RAISED:
