We recently released our Networking Devices Management Pack for VMware vRealize Operations (vROps). This management pack allows users to monitor any network device supporting SNMP. The vROps adapter connects to network devices via either SNMP v2c or v3 and captures available performance and capacity metrics. The management pack also relates devices to VMWare ESXi Hosts, providing troubleshooting capabilities between the virtual and network layers.
This new management pack is in addition to our industry-leading solutions for Cisco Networking (Catalyst, Nexus, MDS), Arista EOS, and others for vROps. Our network and firewall related management packs now include the following:
The generic Networking Devices management pack includes five dashboards, 30+ metrics, five alerts, and one report. The first dashboard is the Networking Devices Overview dashboard, showing general health and performance of your configured devices at a glance. This can be your morning coffee dashboard for your entire network.
The Networking Device Alert dashboard will show the user all alerts for their configured network devices.
The Health Investigation dashboard allows the user to see how their network devices fit into their virtual infrastructure and map to each other. Select an object at left and explore from there:
If you want to track the performance of specific devices or just want to see device performance, the Networking Devices Performance dashboard can be helpful. It shows all metrics available for each device, including throughput and packet data.
The last dashboard is one to be used for troubleshooting. It is designed to select a network device, then see all alerts for that device, health of relatives, and device performance.
The 30+ metrics our adapter captures can be found here: http://documentation.bluemedora.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/management-pack-for-network/using-the-management-pack-(network)/metrics-(network)/. They include both device and port/interface object performance and capacity metrics.
The five alerts included in our management pack can be found here: http://documentation.bluemedora.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/management-pack-for-network/using-the-management-pack-(network)/alerts-(network)/. They include throughput and packet related alerts.
