Installing and Configuring ITCAM for Apps 6.2.2: Peoplesoft Domain Agent FP1 on a Windows Server

by bluemedora_editor on March 30, 2010

The process for installing the ITCAM for Apps 6.2.2: Peoplesoft Domain Agent FP1 is very similar to loading the application support with a few minor differences. If you’ve configured previous versions of the PeopleSoft Domain Agent before, you should be fairly familiar with the configuration this time around as well. The demo environment for this post will be a Windows Server 2003 machine with PeopleTools 8.49.

Installation

Run the installation executable from the installation media. The first screen you will see is the Welcome screen. Hit Next to continue:[vc_single_image alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” image=”2216″]You will be made aware of the prerequisites for the installation. Hit Next to continue:[vc_single_image alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” image=”2217″]Now you will be asked to install the prerequisites. You’re going to want to select the TEMA items:[vc_single_image image=”2222″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]Choose which setup options you would like and click Next:[vc_single_image image=”2223″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]Now you can view the README if you’d like. Click Finish.

Configuration

To configure the agent, first start the “Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services” tool. There may be an stoplight icon on the desktop. Otherwise, you will have to click the shortcut in the Start menu. Double click on “Monitoring Agent for PeopleSoft Domain” template to begin configuration of a new instance:[vc_single_image image=”2224″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]Enter a descriptive instance name and click OK:[vc_single_image image=”2225″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]Now you will see the agent configuration screen. Below is a list of the different configuration options and a sample value:

We’re almost done with the configuration. Tuxedo requires the agent to run on the same user as PeopleSoft, so right click on the instance we just configured in the “Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services” window and click Change Startup…:[vc_single_image image=”2226″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]In the “Service Startup for Monitoring Agent for PeopleSoft Domain” dialog, choose This Account and enter the user account information for the user that PeopleSoft runs under.[vc_single_image image=”2227″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”]Note: The user under which PeopleSoft runs on versions prior to 8.50 is likely the Administrator account. Version 8.50 and above may run on a different user. The agent must also run on that user account.

That’s it! Just start up your instance and it’s ready to go.
