Deploying Blue Medora Oracle EM Plugins Part 2– Deploying the Plugin

by bluemedora_editor on April 2, 2013

This post is part of a detailed series of articles that provide a walkthrough guide for implementing the new Oracle Enterprise Manager Plug-in available from Blue Medora. Part 1 covered importing the plugin into EM12c Software Library. The information posted here is intended to supplement, not replace, the online User Guide available on the Blue Medora product page. This specific post will cover the process of Deploying the Plugin that was previously imported in Part 1 of this Blog series. The demo environment used to capture screen shots is an EM12c windows 64-bit Server.

The Blue Medora EM plug-in for Remote SSL Certificiate is used in the examples below.  Note that the file name references and the name of the plug-in will be different depending on which Blue Medora plug-in you wish to install.  Beyond those naming differences, the installation steps are identical.

  • From the EM12c Web UI, navigate to Setup -> Extensibility -> Plugins

  • Highlight the Plug-in (found in the Servers, Storage, and Network folder), Right-Click and Select Deploy on Management Server.

  • The ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Servers Dialog – General’ dialog box will appear. Enter the ‘Repository SYS Passwordand click Continue.

  • The ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Servers – Pre-requisite Checks’ dialog box will appear. Assuming all the Pre-Requisites have been verified, click Next. Otherwise, refer to the Troubleshooting section in the User Guide for troubleshooting steps.

  • Next ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Servers – Review’ dialog box will appear. Highlight the Management Service and click Deploy.

  • Next the ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Servers – Confirmation’ dialog box will appear. Note the information on the screen and click either Show Status to monitor the deployment status or click Close to complete the deployment of the Plug-in onto an EM12c OMS.

If an OMA and OMS do not exist on the same server the following steps need to followed to add OMA as a host target.
  • From the EM12c Web UI, navigate to Setup -> Add Target -> Add Targets Manually

  • Select Add Host Targets and Click on Add Host.

  • Next the ‘Add Host Targets – Installation Details’ dialog box will appear. Enter required information “Installation Base Directory” text box and the instance directory will auto populate. Select credentials and click Next.

  • Next the ‘Add Host Targets – Review’ dialog box will appear. Note the information on the screen and click on Deploy Agent.

Deploying the Plug-in onto an EM12c Management Agent (OMA)

  • From the EM12c Web UI, navigate to Setup -> Extensibility -> Plugins

  • Highlight the Plug-in (found in the Servers, Storage, and Network folder), Right-Click and Select Deploy on Management Agent.

  • The ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Agent Dialog – General’ dialog box will appear. Select the Management Agent(s) you wish to deploy the Plug-in onto and click Continue when you are done.

  • The ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Agent – Pre-requisite Checks’ dialog box will appear. Assuming all the Pre-Requisites have been verified, click Next. Otherwise, refer to the Troubleshooting section in the User Guide.

  • Next ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Agent – Review’ dialog box will appear. Assuming the pre-requisite checks have passed, Click Deploy

  • Next the ‘Deploy Plug-in on Management Agent – Confirmation’ dialog box will appear. Note the information on the screen and click either Show Status to monitor the deployment status or click Close to complete the deployment of the Plug-in onto an EM12c OMA.

  • In the example above, Show Status was selected. The Deployment Activities screen will appear and will allow you to monitor the deployment status of the Plug-in to the OMA(s). It can take a few minutes – you can refresh this panel in order to see Deployment move through the installation steps.

This completes the process of Deploying the Plug-in to an EM12c OMS and OMA. The next blog post will be a walk through implementation of an Oracle EM Plugin.
