Today we’re going to take a look at configuration of the Blue Medora ITM Agent for Citrix XenServer. To configure the agent, first start the “Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services” tool. There may be a stoplight icon on the desktop. Otherwise, you will have to click the shortcut in the Start menu. Double click on “Monitoring Agent for Citrix XenServer” template to begin configuration of a new instance.
Enter a descriptive instance name and click OK.
You will now see the Validate SSL Certificates tab of the Agent Configuration screen. Choose yes if you’d like the Blue Medora ITM Agent for XenServer to validate SSL certificates when it connects to your Xen environment.

Finally, we have the Connection Info tab. This information is very important. You must enter the correct information for each host in your XenServer pool (up to 16):
Item Name | Example Value | Description |
Hostname | xen56p1.bluemedora.localnet | The hostname of the Xen host as it is reported by the system. If it is configured to be fully qualified, then it must be configured that way here as well |
Use SSL | No | Whether or not to connect to the Xen host through an SSL connection. Choosing ‘No’ is potentially unsecure |
Username | root | The username used to log on to the Xen host |
Password | ******** | The password used to log on to the Xen host |
That’s it! Just start up your instance and it’s ready to go. As always, if you have any questions regarding this post, the Blue Medora ITM Agent for Citrix XenServer or anything else related to Blue Medora ITM Agents, feel free to drop me a line directly at: mike.major@bluemedora.com.
